Two centuries on Green Street.
From a landmark of 1821 to the upstairs lounge of the Prohibition era, to La Serre’s golden years, to now — a new generation takes the room.
Greenhouse Social Club is the city’s new home for the connected crowd — built inside La Serre, one of downtown Albany’s most storied buildings. Private dining, members-only lounges, rooftop energy, curated events, breakfast, cocktails, culture, and the kind of room everyone wants to be in.
Membership is built for young professionals, creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders — while remaining open and welcoming to a diverse and dynamic community. Not exclusive in attitude — exceptional in experience.
Albany has power. Albany has history. And for generations, this building was where it all came together. Stand on Green Street today and you’re standing on a corner that has held two centuries of the city’s most important conversations.
A landmark is built on Green Street.
Built in 1821, the building at 14 Green Street rose during Albany’s most ambitious era — when the Erie Canal was being completed, when New York’s political class was settling into the capitol, and when this corner of the city was becoming the social center of the new state.
The building was constructed to last: mahogany ceilings, hand-cut moldings, brick walls thick enough to hold a century of secrets. From the start, it was a place where Albany came to gather.
The upstairs lounge of the Prohibition era.
During Prohibition, the second floor of 14 Green Street served a different purpose. It became a private lounge — quiet, members-only, off the public record — where one of Albany’s most charismatic and infamous figures held court.
The names of the guests are mostly lost to history. The atmosphere is not. There was no other room in Albany quite like it.
One of Albany’s most posh destinations.
For decades, the building was home to La Serre — one of the most elegant, influential dining destinations in Albany’s history. Governors and business leaders, judges and tastemakers, they all gathered here under chandeliers and mahogany ceilings.
La Serre wasn’t just a restaurant. It was where the deals were made, where the friendships were cemented, where Albany’s most important dinners took place. For a generation of New Yorkers, this address meant something.
Greenhouse takes the room.
Today, the legacy returns — reimagined. Greenhouse Social Club is built to fill the gap Albany has been missing: a private club designed for young professionals, creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders — while remaining open and welcoming to a diverse and dynamic membership.
The second floor and the rooftop are now the Members Only Club. The downstairs continues to welcome the public. The address stays. The next chapter begins.
